This is a very special course for University educators and representatives of management team of universities/ faculties providing initial teacher education from a range of universities across Romania. The  aim of the project is to strengthen the capacity of the Romanian education system, to embrace and uphold the principles of inclusive education, in alignment with the Council of Europe Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture. The project is initiated and implemented by the Romanian Social Development Fund in partnership with the European Wergeland Center.

The course aims to contribute at integrating better the principles of Inclusive Education, Education for Democratic Citizenship (EDC) and Human Rights Education in the Romanian education system. 

It is specifically designed for participants coming from two Romanian counties (Suceava and Calarasi) for a a 5-day training of trainers (ToT) as a part of the project "Inclusion and Quality Education in Romania" supported by the EEA Norway Financial Mechanism 2014-2021.

The training course aim to strengthen democratic resilience through education in Europe. The course aim to strengthen teacher’s confidence in addressing controversial issues, the ability to open the classroom for various opinions and ideas, and concrete approaches to how to place the teaching of issues connected to hate, radicalization, and extremism in the context of democratic citizenship and Human Rights. The training course will offer opportunities to share and co-create teaching and learning materials adapted to the school realities in Northern and Western European countries.

The training course aims to support the quality of teacher training in Romania through strengthening competences of teacher trainers, school inspectors and school counselors. It aims to strengthen capacity in citizenship and human rights education; introduce and promote the latest Council of Europe approaches and tools in citizenship and human rights education and contribute to the development of a professional pool of trainers in teacher training in Romania.
